Canadian-born, Glasgow based maker Claire Henry is a small-batch production potter who creates functional tableware inspired by the rustic Scottish landscapes. Her practice is informed by the intersection of craft, and the aesthetically pleasing objects shaped by culinary tradition, daily routine, and personal ritual.
After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada, she worked in Hungary, New Zealand, and South Korea, until making Scotland her home in 2013. Claire has been working with clay for over 20 years, striving for functionality and quality in her craft.
Narratives found in Claire's work touch upon her love of pattern, texture and surface design. Her collections are in response to the shifting colours and textures, elements and seasons found in Scotland’s wild and rugged landscapes.
Her tableware has been commissioned by numerous cafes, bakeries and restaurants, and is found in private collections across the UK, North America, Asia, and throughout Europe. The online shop is updated 3-4 times a year - shipping everywhere in the UK.
