Wheel Throwing Taster Session

In this 2 hour taster session you will be taught the basics of making pottery on the wheel - including a throwing demonstration followed by clay preparation, centering the clay, pulling up the form and refining the final shape.

We cover shapes ranging from the versatile cylinder to bowls, dishes, mugs, vases and plates. There will be time to throw 3- 6 pots in one session, and you will have the choice of several glazes to finish your pieces. Work will be refined, glazed, and fired by me, and ready to collect (or post for an additional fee) in 3-4 weeks time.

I have 2 wheels available so you can sign up for a focused 1-on-1 session, or bring a friend for a reduced rate, and learn a new skill together. 

All materials, glazes and firings are included in the price. The stoneware clay we use is very durable and will be finished with food-safe glazes so you can enjoy your pots and use them for years to come.

For a one-on-one session the cost is £95 or £180 for 2 people, with the use of separate wheels.

This is the perfect gift for loved ones, to celebrate a special event, or a fun experience to share with a friend. The taster session is created for an absolute beginner in mind, but if you have some knowledge on the wheel the lesson can be adjusted to refine your techniques and focus on specific skills.

  • Suitable for ages 14 and up. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum class capacity is 2 people.

  • Working with clay is messy and fun, and wearing clothes that can get dirty is recommended. Aprons and towels will be provided on the day.

  • Driving: paid parking is available by the studio at the NCP parking lot on King Street, or street parking in the area.

  • Public transportation: short walk from Central station / Argyle Street station / St. Enoch Subway / buses to the city centre
